    Types Of Espresso Drinks

Many people in the world can not imagine their lives without coffee. While some need that perfect cup of coffee first thing in the morning, others need it to get them through the rest of their day. Sometimes, a cup of coffee can also help you relax and live the moment.

And if you love coffee as much as we do, you must already know about espresso. It’s such a popular drink worldwide that different people have different sentiments attached to it.

Here, in this article, we will talk about the five different varieties of drinks made from espresso.

    Caffè Latte

    Caffè Latte

Caffè Latte is very popular in  America. It consists of the regular espresso shot, steamed milk, and some milk foam. The barista sometimes even draws little artwork on the milk foam to make it look pretty!

Also, the ratio of the ingredients in a latte is one part espresso with two parts steamed milk and some microfoam on top. This proportion gives the latte its creamy texture and sweet taste.

Moreover, the drink is usually served in a tall glass with additional flavors or spices of your choice!

    Americano

    Americano

The most simple espresso drink on the list is this Americano. This drink was a favorite of the American soldiers and was heavily promoted by them during World War II, hence the name, Americano. It’s usually made with one part espresso and two parts hot water, but the ratio can be adjusted to suit your taste.

It’s ideal for people who can’t handle the intense flavor of espresso. And one can even add a sweetener to their Americano if they find it too bitter.

    Mocha

    Mocha

If you’re someone who likes their coffee sweet, you must give the mocha latte a shot! With some added chocolate syrup, it’s a fancier way to enjoy the usual latte, made with espresso, milk foam, and steamed milk. The chocolate syrup cuts the bitterness of the coffee and gives it a rich, intense, yet sweet flavor, whereas the milk foam and steamed milk add to the creaminess of the mocha latte.

Baristas usually serve this in a coffee mug or a tall glass with whipped cream on the top. Some cafes even allow you to choose different flavors to add to your mocha. These are usually vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, and peppermint. You can also ask them to change the regular chocolate syrup with white chocolate for an even sweeter and creamier flavor.

    Red Eye

    Red Eye coffee

This espresso drink leans more towards the less popular category. It consists of a cup of drip coffee in which the barista pours a shot of espresso. And the name ‘red eye’ comes from the fact that it helps you wake up early in the morning.

It’s also served in a regular coffee mug, and one can have it with or without a sweetener.

    Ristretto

    Ristretto

Are you looking for a small shot of the usual espresso? If yes, a ristretto can do the job for you! In the Italian language, the word ‘ristretto’ signifies restricted. So, by the name, they mean a coffee drink with the same quantity of coffee as the usual espresso but with fewer parts of water. This method gives it a signature concentrated and intense flavor.

So usually, when you order an espresso, you’re likely to get about 30 milliliters of it. But with a ristretto, the quantity is somewhere between 15-25 milliliters.

    Conclusion

Besides the five mentioned above, there are also other different types of espresso drinks. Also, it won’t be an exaggeration to say that everyone can find their perfect cup of espresso- be it sweet, bitter, intense, or creamy. Once you find yours, you might find it hard to move on from it!
